Not only that but after moving to an assisted living facility he continues to be active daily, often heard on the 444.450 repeater during the afternoon which is an absolutely incredible accomplishment. To top that at 99 years old he has recently joined the DMR crowd. (Listen in on Crowders PRN for him.) I have had the privilege to chat with Oscar on a couple occasions for a short QSO and his passion for radio after so many years is truly amazing. If only we all could be as lucky and blessed as Oscar.</div><div id="AppleMailSignature"><br></div><div id="AppleMailSignature">Kudos to all who put together this special party and commemorating his accomplishment. <div>Oscar will be 100 years old on Sept. 25th and has been a licensed Ham since
1949. GCARS has a committee in the final stages of putting together a
party for him. It will be on Saturday Sept. 23rd from 1 – 4 pm at Victory
Baptist Church, <a href="https://maps.google.com/?q=2300+Philadelphia+Church+Rd.,+Dallas,+NC&entry=gmail&source=g">2300 Philadelphia Church Rd., Dallas, NC</a>.</div>

<div>They have set up a “Go Fund Me†account on Facebook, ARRL has issued
a station call sign for the event. Bill Stevenson GCARS VP has been doing
some airing of the information through DStar and they’re expecting National, and
maybe even some International birthday greetings. I have been to the
Gazette and invited a reporter and photographer. Tomorrow I’ll be trying
to make some contact with the Charlotte Observer for the same thing. I’m
pretty sure that the Shelby Club is already aware of the event.</div>
